Measure your kitchen backsplash yourself
When ordering a kitchen backsplash, taking the right measurements is crucial. Fortunately, it’s less difficult than you think. With a tape measure, spirit level and a bit of patience, you’ll get a long way.
Important: We recommend keeping 2 mm clearance all around. Is the length of your wall 200 cm, for example? Then enter 199.6 cm.

Use our handy PDF tool to clearly note down your measurements. Measure the width and height of your wall in several places (top, middle, bottom), as walls are often not perfectly straight. Always note the smallest measurement – this ensures the panel will fit.

Kitchen backsplash behind a gas hob: what should you consider?
Do you have a gas hob? Then you need to keep at least 10 cm distance between the flame and the backsplash. This is because of the heat generated by an open flame. Is that distance not available? Then our DW Original is not suitable. You can choose from:
- DW Solid (Solid aluminium)
- DW Glass (Tempered glass with a print on the back)
- An extra glass panel between the hob and the backsplash (backboard saver)

Lights or obstacles on the wall?
Do you have under-cabinet lighting, wall sockets, hooks or other obstacles on the wall? Take these into account when measuring your kitchen backsplash. Consider for example:
- Do lights need to be removed?
- Is there enough space around sockets?
- Does the backsplash fit neatly behind or above the hob?
