How to Mount Your Backsplash

How to mount your kitchen backsplash

Our panels are easy to mount. Check out our instructions and frequently asked questions, and we’re sure it will go smoothly. If you still have questions after reading the information, you can always contact us.

Preparation: what should I do before mounting the backsplash?

Unpacking the backsplash

Be careful not to damage the panel with sharp objects during unpacking and mounting. Do not open the packaging with a knife or other sharp object, as you risk damaging the panel. If this has accidentally happened, please contact us as soon as possible.

Preparing the backsplash for mounting

Make sure to remove the plastic protective film from the back of the backsplash, if present.

Preparing the wall for mounting

The backsplash can be glued directly over existing walls or tiles. Make sure there are no large pieces sticking out from the wall from adhesive residue or old tiles. It’s best to scrape these off first and make the wall as flat as possible. It doesn’t matter if it’s a bit uneven. There is no need for plastering.

Mounting the backsplash

Mounting on the wall can be done using mounting adhesive (Pattex Powerfix Polymer white or a similar product) or simply by attaching with screws to the back wall.

When using adhesive, place a dot of adhesive every 5 cm across the entire panel so that the backsplash is firmly attached to the wall everywhere.

Can I cut or modify the material myself?

Socket cutouts can be easily made using a Dremel, jigsaw or hole saw. The material is relatively soft and very easy to work with.

It’s also possible for us to cut out the socket openings for you. We can also make small holes for you at the locations where the sockets will go. You can then finish cutting them out yourself as needed.

It’s also a good idea to practise cutting first, so you get used to the material. The sample pieces are ideal for this. Practise with your saw on the samples before working on the large panel.

How can I neatly finish the edges?

After installation, you can finish the edges of the backsplash with silicone sealant. Make sure to use a sealant colour that matches the worktop or backsplash. This way you’ll get the best result.
