Custom doormat, exactly the way you picture it

A custom entrance mat is the first thing people see and the first thing that catches dirt and moisture. At Designerwand you decide exactly how that mat looks: pick a design from the collection or upload your own photo, logo or text. We print your design in colour at the exact size you enter and cut it to whatever shape you need.

The top layer is a structured synthetic velour made of polyamide (PA), low pile and hard-wearing, over a TPE backing made from recycled material with a high anti-slip rating. The mat stays where you put it, even in a busy entrance. The material is cut-resistant, so it does not fray and no edge finishing is needed. Want to trim a centimetre around a door frame later on? A utility knife is all it takes.

How to pick a design that works on velour

Worth knowing before you choose: velour is a fibrous top layer, not a smooth surface. A print on this mat therefore looks softer than the same image on glass, aluminium or paper. Colours stay deep and recognisable, but hairline details, thin lines and small lettering lose sharpness between the fibres.

You get the best result with a design that reads from a distance: generous blocks of colour, strong contrast and clear shapes. Keep text large and go for a bold typeface rather than a thin one. A logo, a wordmark, a graphic pattern, a nature photo with a calm composition: all of those come across beautifully. A group photo full of small faces, or a line of text in 2 cm high letters, is far less suitable. Not sure about your file? Sizing, tolerance and large formats

You enter the dimensions yourself in the configurator above. One side sits between 60 and 198 cm, the other between 30 and 700 cm. That covers everything from a compact doormat to a long runner down a hallway. If your mat stays under 1 m² we add a small surcharge: small mats simply cost more per square metre to make and to ship. You see that price straight away in the configurator, with nothing added afterwards. Already know that a standard size will do? Then you do not need to measure at all: the doormat with border comes ready to go in 60 x 40, 75 x 50 or 90 x 60 cm, at a fixed price from €50.

Two things we would rather tell you upfront than afterwards. First, the tolerance: the delivered size can differ from the size you entered by up to 1.5%. On a mat of 100 cm that means up to 1.5 cm, on 200 cm up to 3 cm. So do not plan your mat to fit tightly between two fixed walls, leave a little room. Second, the maximum print size of 198 x 700 cm. If you want a larger surface, we split the design across several mats that you lay side by side. The sections line up neatly, but there is genuinely a seam between them. Fully seamless does not exist above this size, so we do not promise it either.

Lifespan: a mat you replace

An entrance mat is a consumable, not an heirloom. Under intensive use, think of a shop entrance or a household with children and dogs, expect a lifespan of less than 2 years. Somewhere quieter and it will last longer. See it as something you replace in good time: you simply order it again in the same design, or you take the opportunity to print a new campaign, a new logo or a new photo. That is exactly why a printed doormat works so well for seasons, promotions and events.

Whether you are after a custom doormat for your front door or a long floor mat with print for a company entrance, the starting point is the same. You supply the image, we print and cut. Do bear in mind that this mat belongs on the inside of that front door; if it goes on the step or the pavement, the outdoor doormat is the version that can take it. And because a made to measure mat is not a decision you make every day, our designer first creates a visualisation at your exact size. The mat only goes into production once you have approved it.

Logo mat for businesses

A logo mat at the entrance does two jobs at once: it keeps dirt outside and it shows your brand the moment someone walks in. In a shop, office, showroom or school that pays off every single day, on a trade show floor or at an event it lands hard in one go. Thanks to fire classification C-s1, d0 with certificate, the mat is also allowed in public spaces. With lengths up to 700 cm you can run a continuous runner from the door to the reception desk, and with contour cutting we will follow the shape of your logo if you want.

A personalised doormat makes coming home feel like yours. Frequently asked questions about entrance mats

Why does a print on an entrance mat look softer than on paper?

That comes down to the top layer. Velour consists of upright fibres rather than a smooth surface, so the ink catches the light slightly differently than it would on a flat material. Colours stay full and the image stays clearly recognisable, but fine detail, thin lines and small lettering lose sharpness. So go for a design with generous areas of colour, strong contrast and large, bold lettering. We review your file beforehand and always make a visualisation first, so you know exactly what you are getting before we print.

What happens if my mat is larger than 198 x 700 cm?

Then we split the design across several mats. 198 x 700 cm is the largest size we can print in one piece. For bigger surfaces we cut the sections so they butt up tightly against each other, but a visible seam between the sections remains. We will agree with you where that seam goes so it is as unobtrusive as possible, for example not straight through a logo. For long corridors a runner of up to 700 cm is often the nicest solution, because it comes off the machine in a single piece.

Will the delivered size match the size I enter exactly?

Almost. A tolerance of up to 1.5% applies to the delivered size. On a mat of 100 cm that means a deviation of up to 1.5 cm, on 200 cm up to 3 cm. For a loose mat in a hallway you will never notice it. If you want the mat to fit snugly between two walls or inside a recessed mat well, deliberately allow a couple of centimetres of room. The material is cut-resistant, so you can trim the mat on the spot with a utility knife without the edge fraying.

How long does a printed doormat last?

Under intensive use, count on less than 2 years. An entrance mat catches sand, moisture and shoe soles every day, and at some point that calls for a replacement. How quickly depends entirely on the load: a mat in a shop entrance wears out faster than one in a quiet hallway at home. After that you simply reorder it in the same design, or you go straight for a new image.

Can I wash the entrance mat?

Yes, the mat is washable at 30 degrees. Wash it without fabric softener and let it dry flat, never in the tumble dryer. Day to day maintenance is just a vacuum cleaner, and a stain comes out with a damp cloth and a mild cleaning product. Vacuuming regularly is the best way to keep the print bright, because abrasive particles such as sand are what dull the fibres fastest.

Can I use the mat outdoors?

No, this mat is suitable for indoor use only. In a hallway, entrance, corridor or under a closed canopy it is right at home. It is not built for full outdoor use in all weathers: persistent rain, frost and UV light attack both the fibres and the print. If your spot is outside the door, you do not have to give up anything on made to measure sizing or design: choose the outdoor doormat. It has a coarse, weatherproof top layer of 15 mm and a lightfastness of 6 out of 8, and you fill in your own size, shape and image for it just the same.

Which shapes are available?

Any shape you can draw. Rectangular, square, round, oval, as a long runner or fully contour cut along the outline of your logo or design. Because the material is cut-resistant, no edge needs finishing or binding. Choose the shape in the configurator above and we will cut it exactly that way.

Do I see my design before the mat is printed?

Yes, always. Our designer places your file at the size you entered and sends you a visualisation to check.
