Marble that cannot etch
Natural marble is porous. A splash of lemon juice or red wine sits in the stone and leaves a dull mark, and the sealer that prevents it has to be reapplied every so often. That is why so many kitchens end up with a marble effect rather than a real slab. A printed panel keeps the veining and the depth of colour, but the surface is a sealed coating that kitchen acids simply do not reach.
Veining is a question of scale
The difference between a convincing marble backsplash and an obvious one is scale. Real veins run for metres, so a design squeezed into a short run stops reading as stone. We size the pattern to your measurements and place it, so a bold vein lands where you want it and not behind the kettle. Whites, blacks, greens, blues and warm sand tones are all in the grid above.
Slab look or tile look
One uninterrupted sheet suits a minimal kitchen; marble laid out as squares or herringbone suits a classic one, and neither version has grout to keep clean. For the deepest colour and the most reflection, have your design printed on 6 mm tempered glass. If the veining feels too busy for your worktop, the quieter textures sit next door.
The look of tiles, without the grout
A tiled backsplash is a classic for good reason, but the grout is where the trouble starts. It soaks up grease behind the hob, discolours above the sink, and needs scrubbing long before the tiles look tired. A printed panel gives you the same pattern in one continuous surface, so splashes have nothing to sink into and a damp cloth is the whole job.
Any pattern, at the scale your wall needs
Because these are prints and not real tiles, the scale is ours to set. A hexagon can be enlarged until it reads as a graphic statement, or a Portuguese tile shrunk so the detail stays crisp across a two metre run. Concrete and stone work the same way, sized to the wall you actually have and cut out around the sockets.
Which material
Most kitchens take DW Original, a 3 mm aluminium composite panel of 4.3 kg per m2 that glues over your existing tiles. Cook on gas, or have an air fryer venting backwards? Take solid aluminium instead. Order a 20 x 20 cm sample first: a concrete grey shifts character under kitchen light.
Why real timber loses behind a hob
Wood and a working kitchen wall are a poor match. Steam off a pan lifts the grain, cooking fat sinks into an oiled finish and never fully comes out, and beside a hob there is heat on top of that. Real boards there need sealing, resealing and careful cleaning. A wood effect panel gives you the same warmth with none of the upkeep: wipe it and you are done.
Boards, slats and dark stained wood
Our designs are photographed from real timber, so the knots, saw marks and end grain vary the way they do on an actual plank instead of repeating every few centimetres. Reclaimed scaffold board brings a rougher, lived in look; fine vertical slats read as modern panelling; a dark stain works surprisingly well against pale worktops. Every panel is cut to your measurements.
Warm, and easy to extend
Cooking on gas, or standing an air fryer against the wall? Choose solid aluminium, which takes the heat a composite panel would not. To carry the same tone across a whole wall rather than the splash zone, the same grain exists as wood effect wallpaper, made to your wall height.

Depth without a pattern
A flat colour behind the hob can fall dead, especially in a kitchen with matte fronts and nothing else to catch the light. A texture print fixes that. From across the room it reads as a solid; up close you see the linen weave, the plaster or the soft gradient. It gives the wall something to do without competing with the kitchen you have just chosen.
Grey, and the trap in it
Grey is the most requested texture we print and the easiest one to get wrong. Under a wall unit, with no daylight on it, a panel will read several shades colder than the sample you held up at the window. Order a 20 x 20 cm sample and tape it exactly where the panel goes, then look at it in the evening as well as at noon.
Matte or gloss
A matte coating keeps a fine structure believable and hides fingerprints. Gloss throws light back and makes a narrow galley feel wider, though it does flatten the subtlest reliefs. Both are wipe clean, seamless and cut to size. Want the texture to carry a clear motif, hexagons or a concrete slab, look at the concrete, tile and stone designs.
