An entrance mat with a logo does two things at once: it keeps sand and moisture at the door, and it shows your name the moment someone walks in. That works in a shop, an office, a practice or a sports hall, and it costs less than you think. In this article you will read how long the walk-off zone needs to be, which size to choose, what a logo on a mat can and cannot take, and how to order one. The printed entrance mat is made individually to the size you specify, so even one mat for one entrance is fine.
Why a printed mat at a business entrance
The entrance is the first thing a visitor sees, and the first thing that catches dirt and moisture. An anonymous grey mat only does the second. A mat with your logo, your brand colour or a welcome message does both, and it belongs with the interior instead of working against it. Because the mat is printed in full colour, with no surcharge for extra colours, you can use any logo as it is: a wordmark, a logo in three colours or a photo.
In practice this is what counts: the low-pile velour top layer traps dirt and moisture, the non-slip backing keeps the mat in place, also on underfloor heating, and the mat is washable. The material is cut-resistant, so there is no edging that can curl up. And because you specify the size yourself, it fits exactly into the entrance or into an existing mat well.

The walk-off zone: how long should the mat be?
A mat only works if people walk across it, not step over it. At a front door at home, 60 to 90 cm deep is enough; at a business entrance, where people walk straight through without wiping their feet, you want them to take a few steps on the mat. Allow at least 150 cm in the direction of travel, and in a corridor or at a revolving door preferably more. Every step on the mat removes dirt that would otherwise be spread across the floor.
That is why we also make the entrance mat as a long runner: the short side up to 185 cm, the long side up to 504 cm, in one piece. For a corridor or a draught lobby that is usually the best solution, because there is no seam in it. If the entrance is wider or deeper than that, we divide the design across several mats that you lay side by side. You see where the seam falls in the visualisation beforehand, so it does not run straight through the logo.
Three situations
- Shop or showroom. A mat as wide as the door plus some margin on either side, and at least 150 cm deep. The logo in the middle, so it can be read from the street.
- Office or practice with a draught lobby. A runner over the full length of the lobby. That is where most of the dirt comes off, before the inner door.
- Sports hall, school or nursery. Lots of traffic and lots of sand. Go big, and consider an outdoor mat under the canopy as well, so the coarse dirt stays outside.
Which size and which shape
We make rectangular and round mats up to 185 x 504 cm, a round mat from 30 to 185 cm in diameter. The short side is between 30 and 185 cm, the long side between 30 and 504 cm. If you are looking for a rounded, oval or pebble shape, you design it in the mat designer; those shapes come from a different production line. If the mat is under 1 m², we charge a small surcharge, because a small mat takes relatively much handling.
Do not measure too tightly. The size delivered can deviate up to 3% from the size specified, so up to 6 cm at 200 cm. If the mat is going into a mat well, measure the inside dimensions in several places and leave some clearance. Exactly how to do that is explained in our article on measuring a doormat and mat well.

What a logo on a mat can and cannot take
A mat is viewed from above, from walking distance, often in passing. That calls for a different design than a business card. What works well: large blocks of colour, strong contrast between logo and background, a bold typeface. What does not work: thin lines, small text, a logo with a lot of detail or a photo with lots of small faces. Keep the logo large, at least a third of the short side, and do not put more text on it than a name and perhaps a welcome.
About the file: supply it as large as possible, as JPG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB. If you only have a small logo file, send it anyway; our designer assesses whether it can handle the chosen size. Before the mat is printed, we first make a visualisation at your exact size. The mat only goes into production after your approval, so you always see in advance how it turns out.
Delivery time, and what that means for the festive season
A rectangular or round entrance mat arrives 13 working days after your approval of the visualisation. Rounded, oval and pebble shapes from the mat designer take 7 working days. If you want the mat at the door for the busy month of December, count back from the day you want to use it, and allow a few days’ margin. Order in mid-November and a rectangular mat will be there at the beginning of December, and a mat you order at the end of November will be there for Christmas.
In a hurry, or do you want one mat in a fixed size per branch? Take a look at the doormat with border: three fixed sizes, a fixed price from 50 euros, a 2.5 cm black border and a delivery time of 7 working days. It is 6 mm thick and intended for a personal image at a normal entrance; for a walk-off zone that really has to trap dirt and moisture, the entrance mat remains the better choice.
Maintenance
Vacuuming is enough for everyday dirt. The mat is washable: a stubborn stain is soaped in with a mild cleaning agent and rinsed off. A mat at a busy entrance is something you replace in good time: you simply reorder it in the same design, or you use the moment for a new logo, a promotion or a seasonal image.
Several mats or a quote
One mat you order directly from the product page: enter the size, upload the logo, check out. For several branches, a large size in sections or a combination with an outdoor mat, request a quote. We then look at the walk-off zone and how to divide the design across the mats with you.
Frequently asked questions about an entrance mat with a logo
Can I have any logo printed on an entrance mat?
Yes, in full colour and with no surcharge for extra colours. The logo just needs to be large enough and have enough contrast to remain readable from walking distance. We advise against thin lines and small text. You always see a visualisation at the actual size first.
How big can an entrance mat with a logo be?
In one piece up to 185 x 504 cm, rectangular or round. Bigger is possible too: we then divide the design across several mats that lie side by side; you see the seam in the visualisation first.
How long is the delivery time?
13 working days after your approval of the visualisation for a rectangular or round mat, 7 working days for rounded, oval and pebble shapes from the mat designer. The doormat with border in a fixed size arrives within 7 working days.
Can the mat go on underfloor heating and is it washable?
Yes. The non-slip backing is suitable for all floors, including underfloor heating. The mat is washable and intended for indoor use; for outdoors there is a separate 15 mm thick outdoor mat.
